Tasting Helper started out from an idea on a Saturday morning prior to a wine tasting I was hosting that evening. I had been hosting and attending wine tastings for about a decade and I had always wanted a quick and easy way to create useful information from the tastings. I thought of creating a website that would do just that. Specifically I wanted a way to easily score a blind tasting contest and also get a quick report of which wines were the most popular of the tasting.
So, off I went. I sat down at the computer and started coding away. By the time of the tasting that evening I had a fully functional, albeit primitive, version of what is now Tasting Helper.com. I was able to enter in the wines and the results of the taster's tasting sheets and then print out reports and contest results immediately.
I was very pleased with how well this new tool worked. I had used it at a few more tastings and, since the feedback was so positive, I decided to generalize it and make it available to the world for free!!
